Q: Can I use it without a smartphone?
A: Yes, you can.
Q: How far can I monitor my food temperature with the smart base?
A: The stable monitoring range is about 70 to 600 ft, which is more than enough to cover anywhere in your home. In ideal lab conditions, the range can reach up to 3000 ft.
Q: I can’t turn on my smart base even after charging it. What’s wrong?
A: If the device fails to power on after charging, press the reset button to activate the battery, then recharge it.
Q: I saw many similar products often fail to connect. Does yours have this issue?
A: No. As long as it’s set up correctly, our thermometer connects reliably. We use industrial-grade Sub-1G wireless technology, providing a probe-to-booster connection range over 20× longer than Bluetooth.
Q: How long is the product’s lifespan?
A: Many of our earliest customers, who purchased over 10 years ago, are still using our thermometers today. With proper care and following our instructions — including recharging at least once every 3–5 months if stored for a long time
Q: How far can I monitor my BBQ temperature with my phone?
A: With internet access, distance is no limit — monitor your BBQ from anywhere in the world.
Why is the ambient temperature different from the smoker temperature?
Hello, the temperature can vary depending on the location, time, and heat source. We’ve conducted tens of thousands of ambient temperature tests, and whether it’s the same brand or different brands, even a difference of just 1 cm or 1 inch in position can cause a significant temperature variation. Our thermometer is NIST-certified, so please use it with confidence.
Unlimited Range Monitoring:Monitor your food temperature anytime, anywhere — no need to stay beside the grill. With our smart wireless meat thermometer, you can check your BBQ or smoker status remotely through the app and enjoy more time with family and friends.
Smart Base with Digital Display:We designed a smart base with a large digital screen for customers who prefer not to use the app. You can monitor real-time temperature anywhere in your home without connecting your phone — perfect for quick grilling or indoor cooking.
Industrial-Grade Stable Signal:Unlike Bluetooth-only ,WIFI+Bluetooth models, we use advanced WiFi + Sub-1G industrial-grade wireless technology, delivering 10 to 30 times stronger signal penetration. Monitor your grill temperature from any room without dropouts — no more burnt BBQ due to disconnection.
7 NIST-Certified Sensors:Equipped with 6 internal temperature sensors and 1 ambient sensor, our probe lets you know the temperature at different depths inside the meat. Combined with our app’s data-recording feature, you can easily find the ideal heat level for your preferred doneness — helping anyone achieve perfect barbecue results with ease.
Smart App Assistant & BBQ Guide:The app offers a complete BBQ assistant experience — flip reminders, remaining time alerts, cooking completion notifications, recipe guides, ambient temperature warnings, and high-heat alerts — making your grilling simpler and smarter than ever.

Defective – but still rates a big 5+? – Wonderful monitoring system…
In fact, maybe because of the defect, that’s what cements my rating of 5 – read on…[if you want to skip the background stuff, the actual review is further down]I have had a long-standing disagreement with my brother-in-law about the best way to cook steaks – sear first, then indirect heat or, visa-versa…he lives on the east coast and I on the other, so it has taken years of back-and-forth visits for this thing to play out…our taste tests have been somewhat indefinite…with the advent of AI, I checked in recently with my favorite chatbot at the moment, Gemini Pro, and had a discussion – it was definitely in the indirect first/sear-after camp, so it agreed unfortunately with my brother-in-law 🙁 …In any event, with the price of beef so high anymore (my last 2″ thick, prime cowboy steak put me back over $80!!) and therefore trying to be extra careful, I decided it was time to move past my testy instant-read thermometer assist and invest in an always-in probe so I could more easily monitor the cooking progress during the indirect period, particularly during those last few minutes when the cooking curve begins to rise so much more quickly toward the end…OMG! So many choices – I had no idea…lots of features to digest and prices ranging all over the place…searching Google is not much help when it comes to something like this with so many off brands…you simply have to ponder the Amazon reviews, look at various the feature sets and try to evaluate those against the pricing – a daunting task when there are so many…I have a friend who would most probably populate an Excel spreadsheet for such a task, but I don’t have the patience he does…Ok, enough of the background and on to my ACTUAL REVIEW of the BBQOVN BQ08 and its features:2 PROBES – I most often cook two or more steaks, so having the two probes seems like a good idea since no matter what, the cooking surface is going to be uneven and the steaks will be so too, and, if you use them for a big turkey or roast, monitoring multiple points is a good idea…MULTI-SENSOR – being able to watch the progression of the cooking from outside edge to the middle as the cook goes on is great, and it greatly adds to the comfort level of protecting against missing the ideal pull-point for your meat…additionally, being able to monitor the ambient temperature of the cooking surface is really helpful by allowing you to modulate your grill temp (I have a gas grill so pretty easy to do) to keep is near the ideal for best indirect cooking, e.g., trying to keep the cooking temp near 375-400F degrees for the indirect period…the single tip-only-sensor probes cannot do this…BOOSTER BOX – the “system” works such that the probes communicate to the booster box placed near the grill so they can penetrate the grill enclosure at all times, with the box then connecting to your Wi-Fi so that it can communicate at all times with the app on your phone – that way you always have access to monitoring no matter where you are…connectivity was all that you need to roam wherever…APP – lots of settings…all the things you would expect to see and probably more – even “flip” reminders and such…BUILD OF THE BOOSTER – robust construction, sturdy…nice magnetic base to mount anywhere on your grill…readability is nice and you can easily use it without the app since it has its own readouts, though in that mode you are limited to just seeing the tip-sensor…looks and feels professional and finished…So, I found the BBQOVN BQ08 system to have a great combination of features and value when I compared to the wide range of other choices on Amazon, which numbered in the dozens – I don’t think you could go wrong! As to my title – I did have an issue – the tip-sensor on one of the probes was defective, DOA – it never read past 95F degrees…fortunately, since I had it in the mode where I was watching all 7 of the sensors on my phone, I could see that it was wrong as the cook progressed and therefore based my pull-point on its number 2 sensor (I nominally compared it to the difference I was seeing on the tip and number 2 sensor on the other probe)…The defect would not have been so easy to see if the feature set of the system was not so robust. Of course, the next morning I reported this to Amazon and they set up a replacement right away!UPDATE – Got the replacement set and used it for my Thanksgiving turkey – both probes worked flawlessly and tracked the progress just great with all sensors – having both the booster display at the oven and the phone app display to carry around really works well…placed one probe in the thigh area and one in the breast…wound up taking bird out a bit earlier than the suggested time on the Butterball package since the temps told me it was ready…bird was perfectly cooked!

Great product!
I was getting ready to return these thermometers after the first time I used it because I was getting a warning that the temperature was too high and the thermometer could be damaged! The actual problem was that the probe wasn’t far enough into the steak, so the part of the probe that is supposed to monitor the internal temperature was actually reading the ambient temperature in my grill. Now that I understand that the entire metal portion of the probe has to be in the meat, I love this thing! It connected easily to the app and it works great!Having 2 probes is great because I like my steak rare (or, as my wife says “so a good vet could bring it back to life”) and my wife likes hers on the well-done (ruined) side. With these thermometers I can get both of our steaks just right.Even though you don’t “need” the phone app, I recommend getting it because it is really cool and makes using the thermometers super easy.I know what all of my grilling friends are getting next Christmas!

No need to open the smoker to check the food temperature.
It was easy to set up. I downloaded the app turned it on and gave it permission to run in the background. After that I tried it in a chicken and it worked great. I can check the temperature from the house. It lost signal a couple of times but reconnected within a few seconds and kept on working. My WiFi isn’t very good and I was pretty far from the router but it still had all the correct information when reconnected. If you’re phone or wifi does go off you can still see the temperature on the charging base so no need to open smoker to check. I don’t have another thermometer to check it against so I don’t know how accurate it is but seems well built. I used it for about 4 hours and still had all of the battery indicator lit.

Very cool kitchen gadget.
So far so good. This is a cool and convenient device to have. I have it to my wife, who likes kitchen gadgets, for valentines day. She loves it, but there is a bit of setup and learning how to use it. Nothing difficult to learn, just experience with the tool helps. I’d buy it again.

Pretty Good
I used this thermometer for a Christmas rib roast. Setup is a bit clunky, but the app works pretty well and the thermometer’s readings were spot-on with my (trusted) instant-read thermometer. Having the ambient temperature is a plus, as my oven runs much cooler than its set temperature and really needs to be properly calibrated. Overall, I think this was good value and is a worthwhile investment.

Works really good.
Works really well with the two different temp zones. It reads within a degree or 2 from our other temp device. Good bang for the buck. Love the easy setup with the app and the base. Station.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Absolutely terrible – do NOT buy this BBQOVN WiFi meat thermometer.
I was excited because it promised “WiFi” long-range wireless and app control, but this thing is a total disaster. First night using it on a brisket:• Connection dropped every 10-15 minutes even though the base was literally 8 feet from my grill. Had to keep restarting the app like it was 1998 dial-up.• The app is glitchy garbage—crashes constantly, notifications either spam you every 30 seconds or never show up at all. Half the time it just says “searching for device” while the probe is sitting right in the meat.• Temperature readings were jumping ±20°F randomly. I almost served a raw brisket because it suddenly decided 165°F internal was “done” when it was clearly still 140°F on my trusted ThermoWorks.• The probes themselves feel cheap; one of the wire sleeves started melting after only 3 hours at 275°F (way below the claimed 500°F+ rating).• Battery life on the base station? Maybe 4 hours before it dies and you lose everything.

A great bit of kit. I was cooking for 17 on Christmas Day and had bought a large rump of Wagyu, with the help of the probe it was cooked to perfection.

Habe jetzt mehrere Gerichte damit zubereitet.

I have a traditional old digital thermometer, and a few analog ones, I had tried a couple of smart meat thermometers over the years and have found them buggy, so I came into this cautiously optimistic and was blown out of the water. This thing looks and feels extremely high tech and high value. The box is perfectly prepared for gifting, and the unit itself just looks so clean and minimalist. The multiple sensors are such a showstopper here, and allow me to easily monitor the temperature throughout multiple layers of the meat, and even the oven’s internal temperature- a super cool feature that I’ve never had before.Typically, I use thermometers that I need to manually insert to temp- which results in major heat loss to the oven if the food is not ready- so this being a set it and forget it style has truly been a big game changer for me.The unit pairs to the app super easily, and I found the app to be extremely user friendly and easy to use.I honestly am so thrilled that I got this. I have never had a more perfect roast or turkey than the ones I have made with this. It gives me even more control than my built in oven probe. This is an absolute must have for any kitchen!

For a meat thermometer, the BBWOVN 6 is excellent! For speed and convenience, the wooden booster (which doubles up as the charger) gives you the key readings (tip of probe temperature, ambient temperature. wireless reception strength and battery life.)However functionality and increased detail of accuracy are maximised when you use the (free) BBQOVN app.Seven sensors cover the length of the probe, so you get accurate readings at even depths across the length of the spike. The app allows you to see the different temperature readings at the different depths so you really can know how well done the centre of your steak is (even if the outside appears crispy. The app also makes it easy to see where the lowest reading is across the probe by highlighting the region blue (so you can see where the areas at risk of being undercooked are.Other features I liked, include being able to set a number of alarms (so when the temperature is hit you can get an alarm, as well as a calculation of how long it thinks is needed to complete the cooking. If you have multiple probes, you can control them simultaneously from the app – again, another great feature for advanced users.I had no problem with range – the probe transmitted without issue from my metal BBQ as well from within my microwave shielded convection oven. And if the recharging base can get to a wifi signal, then you can connect to the app from anywhere you have wifi.Recharging is easy (there’s a USB-C port built into the wooden base), and the probe charges from there. A magnetic back of the charging base means you can stick to your fridge when not in use (and conveniently get to it when needed).I did find the ambient temperature sensor (the one which tells you the temperature of the air immediately outside the item being cooked) read a few degrees hotter than it was, but the other sensors were all pretty spot on.Max internal temperature that it will read is 100°C, and ambient temperature is 537°C. I tested to ambient temperature around 300°C (and internal temp around 95°C, and it handled it without issue.Overall this is a fantastic, practical and very useful addition to the kitchen. Being able to tell the temperature of the meat through the metal BBQ is well worth it, and key to getting the perfect steak at the end.
