Excellent Blender — Great Power and Value!
I’ve been using the Hamilton Beach Power Elite Wave Action Blender (58148A) for a few months now, and I’m genuinely impressed. It’s powerful, easy to use, and works exactly as advertised. The 700 watts of power handle ice and frozen fruit with no problem, and the Wave Action system really does pull everything down toward the blades so you get a smooth, consistent blend every time. The 40 oz glass jar feels sturdy and high-quality, not flimsy like cheaper plastic ones. It’s also easy to clean, and the parts come apart quickly for washing. The 12 blending functions are simple to use and clearly labeled — perfect for making smoothies, purees, sauces, and even crushing ice for frozen drinks.

Great blender for the price
Works as should. It works great for making salsa, smoothies even crushing ice. The speeds are great. Easy to operate and the seal is really tight. The plastic material is sturdy and hasn’t cracked and is easy to clean.

Replaced my Vitamix, and Does Okay
This blender is decent but not particularly impressive. The glass jar is its best feature. It’s sturdy, easy to clean, and far better than the flimsy plastic jars on many others or the stupidly tall plastic container on my Vitamix (which I don’t use anymore because it’s all scratched up). It handles light tasks like blending coffee and cream perfectly, which saves me from that unpleasant skin forming on top as it cools. However, it struggles with thick mixtures and ice, often needing extra liquid or a good shake to get everything moving. Come to think of it, so does my Vitamix. For simple, everyday blending, it does the job, but it is not a powerhouse. For the price, it’s totally worth it.

Blade sharpness
I’ve been very happy with the Hamilton Beach Power Elite Wave Action Blender. For the price, it performs better than expected. The 40-oz glass jar feels sturdy and high quality, and it handles smoothies, frozen fruit, and ice fairly well. I mainly use it for smoothies and protein shakes, and everything comes out smooth with minimal chunks. The 12 blending functions are convenient, especially the preset buttons for puree and ice crushing. It’s also easy to clean, which is a big plus. The blender is a bit loud, but that’s expected at this power level. My only minor complaint is that it can struggle slightly with very thick mixtures unless you add enough liquid or stop to stir. Overall, it’s a solid, affordable blender that works great for everyday use and is excellent value for the price.

I’m in love with this blender I knew I was gonna love it when I made the purchase. It works well, not too heavy and very easy to use… love the Hamilton brand. Plus the price is right.

Wish I had returned this
Updating from Oct 2024 (purchased July 2023): This blender really isn’t good, or at least maybe I got a dud. Currently my blender only works 1/5 times and I have to finagle it around to get it to start. A weird smoky burning smell happens when it’s running as well. It also leaves odd black marks all over my (white!) countertops, and I can’t figure out if this is the rubber on the bottom or if literally something is coming out of it. It’s basically just a paper weight at this point. And all I use it for is making smoothies. It rarely even blends up all the fruit. Not a great use of my money even if it was a ‘good price.’ It’s a loss if you have to replace it every year. Ugh.Original: I don’t know about this blender. I bought it during Prime Day because my old blender (a Black & Decker one I got in college and probably got on a Black Friday deal) had recently broken. There are so many blender options available that it is quite overwhelming to pick one especially with all the features they have, but since my old B&D was “basic,” I figured I didn’t need like a Ninja-level blender for my purposes (I literally plan to only make things like smoothies or milkshakes with this). The only requirement I wanted was a blender with a glass jar. this is just what I am used to , but I also noticed that many blenders with plastic jars (including a ninja one I was considering) had reviews that stated plastic jars may crack. So, with that being part of my search criteria, I saw this Hamilton Beach one for an ok price and it had many positive reviews, so I decided to pick it up. With that said, when I received this blender I already missed my B&D one in “look and feel.” While I think the glass jar is a nice size/shape, I don’t like the quality of the lid. I thought having a pour spout would be nice, but it just feels so flimsy and cheap and when you use it it’s like another messy thing to clean. I’m not sure what it adds on just pouring straight from the glass pitcher. Plus I find it cheap and plastic-y and it is difficult to pull off of the glass jar (I’ve literally damaged my nails trying to release it). In terms of function, I don’t think this is all that powerful. I have probably used it about 5-7 times so far, and I’d say 40% of the time I’ve had to “assist” the blender to process my food because it will get stuck. I have literally only made smoothies with this (and that is all I really intend to use it for). I followed the directions, saying put in liquids first, followed by fruit. My blender literally only has milk, yogurt, and frozen fruit, and it is not able to effectively blend that consistently without me having to open it and push the fruit down with a spoon. The “wave” action doesn’t seem to do much. It is also very loud. It think it is louder when it is probably working harder (like when it is blending and not pulling the fruit down). But it really sounds like a vacuum cleaner. So that is annoying because I didn’t have to stop and assist the blender on my old B&D. Since I don’t think a smoothie is all that complicated/difficult to blend, the fact that it can’t do that consistently isn’t very encouraging. So I am considering sending this back. If I can find a similarly priced blender to this, I will likely swap it for that.

Affordable, reliable, and versatile!
This Hamilton Beach Power Elite Wave Action Blender is one of the most affordable blenders I could find, and I absolutely love it. We’ve used it for smoothies, shakes, and other drinks, and it works perfectly every time. The blender is dishwasher safe, which makes cleanup super easy, though you can also wash it by hand if you prefer. So far, we’ve had no issues with performance or durability. The speed options are great. We ordered the black one. Great value for the price!

I’ve used this blender more or less on a daily basis with frozen fruits and vegetables for about two months. I knew that I would be getting a lot of use out of it, and have had experience with both low end blenders (always disappointing) and high end blenders (from working at a smoothie making business), and was a little bit hesitant to purchase one at this price point, rather than investing in a higher end, more powerful one. However, I was happily surprised by both the quality and easy of use of this blender. It has a very solid glass jar (I’ve had bad experiences with cracks in the jars of cheaper plastic blenders). It also comes apart for easy cleaning and can go in the dishwasher. It’s so easy to clean and used so frequently in my household that I rarely need to put it in the dishwasher unless I’m in a rush. The motor may not be as powerful as some more high end blenders, but as long as you make sure to start with a liquid base, it has no trouble blending frozen foods. The only caveat that I have is that, about a month into use, my unit started leaking. At first, I thought it was because I was putting it back together incorrectly, but then I noticed a small crack in the plastic/rubber ring in the cutter assembly. After wondering how difficult it would be to get the part replaced, I continued using it for a few weeks, but finally made the call to the Hamilton Beach office in Canada today. The real reason that I had to post this review was the pleasant and quick service that I got while making that call. All I had to do was give them the product model/series and describe the part that was affected. There was no fuss about proof or purchase or anything else. The new part is free because of the 3 year warranty and they charged me $5 for shipping (which I knew I would be paying anyway because of the clear warranty policy). It should arrive within 7-10 days. When you purchase a product that is not so high end, you sometimes worry about the service that you’ll receive if any problems come up. I will not hesitate to purchase similar products from Hamilton Beach in the future if they have such an easy to access warranty service.

The worst blender ever!!!The blades are so small and short that they can’t really cut or chop the fruit or veggies. I am so disappointed at this blender.
